Savour 2014

Sunday, 30 March 2014

I haven't heard about Savour till last year when I saw people on my Instagram feed posting pictures of the event and all the pretty food with delicious ingredients. I vividly remember Jaan restaurant was one of the participants because H and I tried their 55 degree smoked organic egg on our anniversary dinner last year. I was naturally excited and told H we have to go for this year's!

We went for lunch and omgosh the sun was a killerrrrr.
It was an outdoor event and air-conditioned space was limited.
In fact, it didn't feel any cooler when we were under a roof
because there were too many people all seeking shelter from the sun.
We were lucky we managed to get to enjoy our food under an umbrella table.
No more outdoor lunches, go for dinner instead!

After walking around the area, we decided on our first round of dishes!
This was my favourite dish at Savour!
Kanpachi (Yellowtail) Truffle Soya
Absolutely delightful!!!

Ahh, this was by the infamous Chef Alvin Leung of Bo Innovation.
He raised to fame recently in Singapore because of Wok Stars
so I was looking forward to trying his dishes and see if he lives up to the hype.

Umami - black truffle, toro, rice noodle, vermicelli, dry shrimp powder
It was a disappointment.
Nothing special about it nor was the truffle taste prominent.
The popular Molecular Xiao Long Bao was sold out when we were there
so that might have fared better. *shrugs*

Slow Roasted Organic Lamb Short Ribs Crusted with Five Spices
I am not a fan of lamb because of the gamey smell and taste...
But I willed myself to try a little of this from Saint Pierre.
The meat was well seasoned, peeled off easily from the bones, it was also soft and tender.
But I'm still not turning into a fan of lamb meat anytime soon.
I love the accompaniment too!

I cannot remember where this was from...pretty forgettable but smoked salmon is always welcomed!

Pork Crackles with Dijon Mash
from Stellar@1-ALTITUDE was bad.
The pathetic portion of vegetable at the side was yellowed, limpy and soft.
I think the roasted pork at your nearest coffee shop would taste better and it wouldn't cost $16.

I encouraged H to order the 72hr Miso Braised Short Rib, Kyoto Onion, Fresh Wasabi
from Mikuni because it seemed like such a popular choice that afternoon.

But he said it was only so-so.

We have matchy aviators! ^.^

Popped into Nespresso for some cooler air
and we found out they were brewing free coffee for everyone!
I don't drink coffee usually 'cause it gives me a headache but I thought I'd try one with lower intensity!
Cannot remember what I chose but I had a mocha with lesser milk and more chocolate syrup hahaha.
AND IT TASTED GREAT!!!!
I don't think I'll mind if H buys a Nespresso machine for our future home.

And this was at the gourmet village.
I don't think people actually leave their seats haha.

And they were roasting a veal for the dinner service!

Conclusion?
Not too sure if I will go for Savour 2015 if there's gonna be one
because I cannot enjoy food in this Singapore heat.
Most of the dishes were average and it is not worth me paying so much for food that's forgettable.
If I want to fine dine, I'd prefer paying more for the ambiance and air-con.
Seriously.

So we'll see next year!
The line-up has to be pretty exciting for me to suffer under the sun again.

Okay! Now that we are done with virtual stuffing of food,
here's my monotone outfit from Dorothy Perkins!
This season, midi skirts are the new minis, also the new sexy.
It is the perfect Style Essentials item from Dorothy Perkins!

I know a lot of girls love lace in blush or white as that's the epitome of dainty and romance.
But I love this sheer black lace sleeved top that is a little edgy yet keeps the feminine factor.

It goes purrrrfectly with my midi pencil skirt!
Ahhh, I love my black and white coordinates too much!

Introducing ProTrim!

Friday, 21 March 2014

Okay I finally found time to share about my new hair sponsor! Came home right after work today! Ahh, it had been a tiring week fighting the Z Monster every morning and afternoon after lunch.

Yes, my hair! A little history "lesson" about my hair first. So before I got sponsored by a hair salon and when I was still flying, I rarely get anything done to my hair in Singapore. I did not cut my hair here, colouring of hair was out of the question, neither did I do treatments, etc. At that period of time, a couple of years ago, I was impressed with the hairstyles spotted by the girls in Hong Kong, Taipei and Seoul. Naturally, I was keen to try the hair services and salons were readily available in the main shopping strips. And then I went back again and again because the service in those cities was good and every customer left the salon with impeccable hair! Including me ^.^ haha. Not to mention prices were also very affordable ~ S$10 - S$20 for my hair length.

One of my favourite hair salons has to be Juno Hair in Seoul and 乱剪 in Taipei! I don't know the exact addresses but I always go to the Juno outlet in Myeong Dong. Enter the entrance right beside Adidas and take the elevator up to level 3. I brought H there once and he was full of praises for the salon like I was! Nobody leaves the salon looking bad. And 乱剪 is right smacked in 西门町 I am sure you will not miss it if it's still in business.

Now that I no longer have the opportunity to visit Seoul or Taipei anytime I want... I am so glad I have ProTrim! I couldn't contain my excitement when I saw the email because each outlet has at least one Korean hairstylist so for those who love Korean fashion, aesthetics or how the Korean girls rock those shoulder length brown hair, go to ProTrim and get the expert's advice! :)

ProTrim JEM has THREE Korean hairstylists!

I went for my first appointment at ProTrim JEM and the stylist assigned to me was Elva. Here's a picture of the both of us before we start:

Before

After a hair wash + treatment + cut, they applied this on my hair before... perming!

THIS is the perming machine they specially flew over from Seoul!
It's actually a conventional way of perming women used in the older days.

So how it works is...
The machine will heat up the clips and curlers to a maximum of 90 degree celcius
and then it is ready to be used!
It's amazing how the heat can be retained for 20-30 minutes AFTER it's clipped/rolled on your tresses!

I didn't feel any warmth on my scalp AT ALL.
I'm actually perming my roots for a more voluminous look!

NO MORE FLAT HAIR

Curling my ends to give it more volume!

I loveeeeee the slightly curled ends!
It is so Korean and you know I adore anything Korean!!
(Except their music probably)

How the ends look from the side!

I was also supposed to colour my hair (roots need serious touching up) that day
but it was a little late by the time I was done so I went down again the following week!

Elva is giving me subtle highlights!

I've never done highlighting before but boy, it is hard work
especially if you're doing it for the entire head!

Anyway, hair colouring is Elva's forte so you know who to look for ;)

The Keratase treatments they offer

Of course I did the Radiance Ritual for my newly coloured tresses

Sigh. Just look at this.
Blowdrying is an art.
Give me the same hairdryer and round comb and I still won't be able to achieve anything similar  >:(

When it was finally done, I just kept repeating to Elva,
"Omg I love it. I love the colour. Omg. I love it. The colour is great."

Though there is not much difference in the highlights and my base colour,
I think there's added dimension to the entire look!

My hair colour is more true to the following pictures:

I was never the one who's crazy with outrageous colours on my head
and I love experimenting with the different shades of brown so
I am extremely pleased with the results
and so happy to have found Juno Hair in the form of ProTrim in Singapore!

Erabelle's Erabrowlogy

Sponsored Post

With so many new innovations in the beauty and skincare industry lately, many ladies can now choose to wake up looking pretty instantly. I say "choose" because we have the options of doing eyebrow embroidery, lip tinting, semi-permanent eyeliner and eyelash extensions ALL on our face! Natural beauty? Yes, we all can be if we want to ;)

But today, let me touch on Erabelle's latest brow treatment - Erabrowlogy. It is a holistic eyebrow embroidery treatment to give beautiful and natural looking brows that frame the face with enhanced colour retention. Modern women have a lot of commitments and sometimes in the morning, I don't even put on makeup before leaving my home for work because I can use that couple more minutes to build a better relationship with my bed for my well-being. Beauty is secondary in the morning hahaha.

I am so glad Erabelle has a team of modern women behind the brand as they came up with solutions to simplify beauty routines so we are able to give our best face to the public with minimal time and effort spent.

Let's move on to the day of the event where we witnessed Erabrowlogy!

Amantha and I arrived at Erabelle's Bugis outlet with geeky glasses!

The sweet and the savoury presented on pretty wares for us!
I kept my temptations in check because I try not to eat carbs at dinnertime. Healthy lifestyle yo!

Here's a little peek of the outlet!
I love that it's brightly lit and the design is so girly!!
AND their rooms are fairytale themed!

Most of us grew up with Cinderella and Snow White
and that is the reason why Erabelle chose fairytale.
Because we are familiar with them and the warm feeling of fairytales
resonates with the sincere service standard that they pride themselves on.
All the outlets have different concepts so customers can have a range of experiences
when they visit different outlets!
Very, very pretty and interesting concept, you have to visit to find out!

We were given a live demo of the Erabrowlogy process
and I like that they started it with a mask + scrub for the eyebrows.
What the mask looks like applied.
The therapist will leave this mask on your eyebrows for 5-7 minutes,
then rub it around the areas
to remove dead skin and excess sebum so the colour can penetrate the skin easier
and result in better colour retention.

Jacelyn, our model for the live demo!
When the mask is off, the therapist will draw on a pair of eyebrows most ideal for your face shape.
I thought it was a job well done!
I LOVE the drawn brows! It's so Korean-ish, don't you think?
Of course, if you don't like the shape, you can always have it redrawn to your fancy :)

Now that both brows are drawn, it is time to start the numbing process.
Erabelle uses numbing so the process is made more comfortable.

While waiting for the numbing cream to take effect on Jacelyn,
the guests were invited for an eyebrow shaping session!

One style does not fit all.

Individuals have unique features therefore your brows

will be tailored to perfectly frame your face and eyes
to showcase your assets by considering the following 5 aspects:

1) Length of eyebrows
2) Thickness of eyebrows;
determined by the distance between the brows and eyes, size of eyes, size of face and body frame
3) Shape and tip of the brow arch
4) Starting point of the brows – light and natural-looking
5) Ending point of the brows – complete and precise

My face shape is a mix of square + diamond.
From the front, it's more of a diamond shape but because of my jaw line,
I have manly square shape when you look at my face from the side.

Left brow is done!
I love subtle arches on my eyebrows.
Trimming the hair shorter also neatens the shape!

I have pretty eyebrows that frame my face perfectly!

Over at the other side, the therapist has already started with the embroidery process.
It is done with Softstroke Technique which is gentle on skin
and the European Micropen used delivers natural results.
What I gathered from Jacelyn was how painless and comfortable the entire process was.
I mean, just look at her!
If you're concerned about hygiene, not to worry as new Micropen tips and caps
are used for every customer!

How Erabrowlogy looks like when it's done.
The colour goes a shade lighter after a week so it will definitely look more natural!

So thoughtful of them to put together a Browlogy Care Kit for all customers which consists of the Aftercare cream, Hydra Cleansing Water and the Skin Calming Mask.

If you say yes to any one of the following, you will definitely love Erabrowlogy:
- Makeup smudge after lunchtime
- Allergic to makeup products
- You want to look good ALL THE TIME
- You have difficulty applying makeup; or
- You don't have the luxury of time to put on makeup

Erabrowlogy only takes 60 minutes per session and this package costs $1314 consists of 4 colour services (touch-up sessions x4) which lasts for 2-3 years with the full course of treatment and proper care. If you had previously did eyebrow embroidery or tattoo elsewhere, the Erabrowlogy Redesign & Intensive Change which costs $1690.60 will be more suitable for you as it will correct the shape and/or colour of your unsatisfactory brows! There will be an additional surcharge of $214 per package if you opt for a Master Artist to do your brows.
