DFW and BIFW 2014

Tuesday, 25 November 2014

Before I start this post, I want to thank the DFW team and Nuffnang SG for choosing me to be one of the 24 Insiders for Digital Fashion Week Singapore and Bangkok International Fashion Week 2014. I am no fashion guru, I cannot name ten runway models at the top of my head, neither did I study fashion like some of the other insiders but I have an immense amount of love for clothes and bags, shoes and anything pretty and vain. So it is truly a privilege to be selected and be among some of the most inspiring and fun-loving fashion influencers around the world!

So I thought I'll share all (yes, all 'cause I'm diligent like that haha) of the outfits I wore for the runway shows as well as highlight some of the designers who caught my eye, featuring pieces I would totally wear!

In Good Company
Very clean and simple designs but there are always a couple of unique details to make each piece different from your usual basics. And that cheeky boy model above stole the show! Haha

Max Tan
Love the black and the use of heavier fabrics for some of the designs in this collection. The hot pink pieces were a stunner and I absolutely adore that colour block skirt!

Cristiano Burani
The Italian designer featured casual and laid-back pieces that make you want to scoot off to a beach resort with a huge sunhat!

Bangkok International Fashion Week (BIFW) was an eyeopener. Our eyes were treated to a feast as the runway was decorated to the nines for every. single. show. There's also a story for every collection showcased so the shows were awesome. Most of us were literally sitting on the edge of the bench trying to get as close as possible to the models haha. Here are my top 3 favourites!

Vatanika
The backdrop of male models was already a winner! The theme of this collection was "It's a men's world" so there were top hats, pinstripes mixed with lace... Vatanika stole the hearts of many of us in the audience - definitely a designer to look out for ;)

I visited the store prior to the show and everything was so pretty! Lace, light and sheer fabrics, tulle, white and cream never looked better.

FLYNOW
This was the closing show for BIFW 2014 and can I please ask you to scroll back up and take a look at the set-up again? The runway was elaborated, very much like the pieces showcased. There was always something happening on the runway, the couture designs were just ... wow. A fantastic closing show for BIFW!

Now I'm excited for DFW 2015! ;)

Bucktile St Cafe

Sunday, 16 November 2014

Hello everyone! Digital Fashion Week (DFW) Singapore and Bangkok are over but ahh, the memories will always last. It was fun and definitely a humbling experience to be with a group of inspiring like-minded individuals. I'll blog about it soon but today I'm gonna share about a new cafe I visited recently with H amidst the DFW madness - Bucktile St Cafe located in the west!

I want a deer head like this in my home next time but I don't know if it will look scary...?

Anyway, the entire shelf is merchandise for sale!

The name of the cafe, Bucktile St Cafe is actually derived from Bucket List
and it was quite interesting to see what patrons wrote.

Kinda reminds of Meiji Shrine where tourists and locals alike
will write down their wishes and hang it on the huge tree.
I will go round the tree reading all the wishes until I've completed the round usually haha.

H and I also spotted paintings for sale hanging on all the walls in the cafe then we found out
they were all done by the Mouth and Foot Painting Artists!
It is super admirable because I am able-bodied yet never really explored
the various parts of my body and actually make them useful.

It's like, my body parts are used to do what they are meant for...nothing extraordinary nor impressive. You know what I mean?

Anyway, back to topic!!
H and I were only 60% full after lunch at Bukit Timah so after a bit of googling,
we headed over to Bucktile to chill before the DFW duties and for dessertssss!

First time seeing Tiramisu presented in such a cute way haha and so we ordered Oreo!

Earl grey, rainbow cake and the dark brown tart at the bottom of the picture is seasalt caramel!
ALL my favourite flavours!!
I love anything earl grey, lavender, pistachio, hazelnut, seasalt caramel,
rainbow, colourful and pretty so in a way, I'm quite predictable.

Our tiramisu "plant" hahaha
This was H's favourite because he loves the creaminess.

Feeling a little greedy so we ordered a plate of spam fries to share as well!
It was a little too salty for our liking but I guess that's spam?
We super love spam lah hahaha

My iced chocolate and his Americano.
Ahem, the coffee connoisseur approves of the coffee bean used because they are from Toby Estate's.

And this, my friends, was my favourite of everything we ordered!
The confetti blue velvet cake!
I'm not a fan of red velvet cake because there's cream cheese but there isn't for this blue velvet
so we ordered to try and it was so yums!
Soft, moist and not overwhelming!

What I wore that day

And of course more photos outside because they have a pretty backdrop! :D

Alright guys, I'm heading for LASIK tomorrow so... wish me a speedy recovery
and I'll be back with the next post soon! xx

Beauty Review: Nivea Facial Wipes

Friday, 14 November 2014

These days, my skin seems to be losing its hydration faster than I can say supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. My skin flakes when I apply powder foundation and that seriously freaks me out. It never used to be like that!

Just very recently, I found out it could be due to the oil-based makeup remover that I am using! I honestly didn't expect that and because I don't want to look like a wrinkled dry prune, I had to start hunting for a new makeup remover.

Even from my days as a flying crew, I tried to pack as light as I can possibly help because I am the one carrying all my luggage overseas (you don't know how many flights of staircases they have in Europe...and don't get me started on the pebbled sidewalk) and I don't want to break my back/arms/shoulders carrying/pushing those bags! Yet one thing I never compromised on, was my skincare products. H and friends who have travelled with me can vouch for that because most times, I bring full-sized bottles hahaha.

You wouldn't want to clog your pores with the sunscreen/makeup you have on your face so the first most important step is really to remove all traces of makeup at the end of the day.

Currently, I am using NIVEA Gentle Cleansing Facial Wipes for dry and sensitive skin (some areas of my skin are more sensitive) because NIVEA is one of the world’s most trusted and affordable skincare brands. As we all know, sensitive skin requires delicate care and the Gentle Cleansing Facial Wipes contain almond oil (for soft and supple skin), calendula oil (provides soothing benefits) and hydra IQ. The latter ingredient is actually NIVEA-exclusive and it stimulates our skin's aquaporin network so that moisture can be supplied to deeper skin layers over 24 hours.

The Gentle Cleansing Facial Wipes are definitely my favourite because not only are they effective in removing my layers of makeup, they also keep my skin moist, hydrated, soft and smooth!

Because NIVEA will never leave any one of us ladies out, there are facial wipes that cater to all skin types ;)

For normal to combination skin, there is the NIVEA Refreshing Facial Cleansing Wipes. The key ingredients lotus extract, vitamin E and hydra IQ maintain the skin's natural moisture while cleansing and toning the skin. The alcohol-free formula doesn't leave the skin feeling tight or dry and the wipes aid in skin healing and regeneration while rebalancing sebum production, tightening pores and refining skin texture.

Consumers with sensitive skin can consider the NIVEA Fragrance-Free Facial Cleansing Wipes as it is free of oils, alcohols and colourants. You don't have to worry about breakouts or skin irritation while cleansing, toning, hydrating and being tender to your skin!

The newest addition to the facial wipes range by NIVEA is the 3-in-1 Exfoliating Facial Cleansing Wipes which are formulated for oily to combination skin. These wipes are special because there are two different surfaces!

I drew lipstick, lipliner, liquid eyeliner and waterproof mascara on my hand and will remove the makeup using the 3-in-1 Exfoliating Facial Cleansing Wipes.

After one gentle swipe using the soft side of the wipe, the makeup is thoroughly removed!

Then I turned the wipe over to exfoliate my skin using the textured surface which contains micro-exfoliation particles to remove dead skin cells and stubborn debris.

The best thing is that, both sides of the wipes are infused with Magnolia Bark Extract which prevents blemishes! Look forward to soft skin that's deeply cleansed when you are done!

Lastly, NIVEA is searching for #theNIVEAgirl which might very possibly be YOU! Watch the video above to find out more!

It's soooo simple to take part - all you have to do is
1) take a selfie with NIVEA's bestseller, their facial wipes and
2) hashtag #theNIVEAgirl and #NIVEAsg on Instagram to participate

Do take note that entry closes on 26th Dec 2014!

And that's it. Easy or what?!

There will be one winner and she will
