The Little Black Jacket Exhibition

Saturday 30 November 2013

Visited The Little Black Jacket exhibition located at the Art Science Museum over the week with Jasmine because she is a Chanel lover like myself. Come to think of it, we have wayyyy too many common interests. Right down to the preference of the thickness of salmon sashimi.

So we had lunch at Chikuwa Tei before the exhibition and when we were discussing what to order, she mentioned about ordering 2 sets of salmon sashimi. I told her, "One set is enough because the slices are too thick and I didn't really like it."

True enough, she liked it as much as I did because they were sliced too thick. We are probably the only odd ones who pick on that! Haha.

She is as picky an eater like I am and to quote her, "Jessica will definitely like it because I like it." Yup, we have the same tastebuds but I cannot say the same about her non-existent spicy buds.

Back to the exhibition, I really liked it! It definitely felt like home to me, being in a black and white room with the different hues of grey. The photographs were captured beautifully by the man behind Chanel. I love looking at beautiful pictures, beautiful people, and beautiful styling. Wish I could just snap snap and tadah, gorgeous pictures! Or pose1, pose2, and voila!, picture perfect! But those will only happen in Level 4 parallel universe.

Kiko!

My favourite photograph was of Carine Roitfeld dressing up as Coco Chanel.

I'm going through a tulle stage now!

Diane Kruger looked too gorgeous here
and the first thing I noticed was her nose.
IT'S PERFECT.

Yes, I'm also obsessed with noses at the moment.

And here's my companion looking all chic and mysterious.

Time for fashion updates!
Maxi skirts are always a good idea for me to cover up my malnourished legs.
I love this flowy piece from Greys-Online which has slits at the sides.
Gave me an awesome silhouette and I feel like a goddess with the chiffon in the air as I walk.

The apple green is such a refreshing colour!
Anddddd! The inner piece is actually shorts
so you don't actually have to worry about it being too windy!

I also wore it like how the people at Greys' styled it - with the Crochet Lace Top!

This crochet top from Greys-Online is a little different from its counterparts
as it is not fully lined so we get to have a peek of the intricate crochet detailing on the hem!

I love wearing my tops tucked in usually but for this,
I styled it with a pair of shorts and blazer and it looks equally good to go!

Which look do you prefer? :)

Home Decor Inspiration

Sunday 24 November 2013

H and I have differing views on our future home furnishing but I am slowly and surely convincing him and nurturing him on the idea of "beauty" hahaha. I am pretty confident we can come to a consensus when the time comes!

At least we have agreed on black and cream/white as the main colours of the home. We are not into those industrial, minimalist, victorian and crazy colours/prints style, just timeless, classic and neutrals that will last the years and something we will never get tired of looking. Paintings, photographs, cushions and other accessories will add the colours needed in our home :)

Some home decor ideas I fancy:

I LOVE the sofa! So far (hahaha if you get it) I haven't seen anything that's two-toned like this. I prefer a sofa that doesn't have legs so we only need to clean the floor underneath like once a year or something(or never). Haha!

Screenshot from the Coco Chanel movie
If you love black and white, Coco's house in the movie is a good place to get inspirations. I love the idea of black borders on the doors and black linings in between the closet. I like the oval mirror too! Can consider hanging it in the bathroom but I would like a long wide mirror in the bathroom.

From FrancFranc
Pretty wall ornaments that will fit the theme.

Yes, we are planning to have a kitchen island to replace the conventional idea of a dining table! *throws confetti* I love the idea of preparing food on a big area of space and we can have our meals on the other side of the island. I love the chic looking sunscreen blinds and the black countertop with white/cream base! But I wouldn't install top cabinets. I don't think we have THAT many things to store and I love my kitchen looking bare.

Looks good on white floor too, you think? And always remember to get chairs with backs, stools aren't comfortable.

Drop down/hanging lights are a good idea, just not in this design.

The perfect kitchen layout in my opinion! Love the cabinets, the design and the knobs on the cabinets, the shelves displaying the spices and the floor! So cosy!

I guess this is pretty standard, something I would approve of, dark and white with a pop of colours.

BUT I also approve of the following 2 layouts!

Wallpaper in the bathroom, what say you? I don't know, but this is so parisian style! I probably wouldn't place new toilet rolls and magazines beside the sink though - I wet the entire toilet on my morning routine haha!

Excellent storage idea.

Do you think these windows are possible for a HDB? I cannot even write in words how much I love black. And these are Just. Too. Pretty. Classy and sophisticated.

That's all I have for today! I'm so thrilled that we are 1.5 months away from 2014! Too many exciting things happening, more opportunities and I'm hopeful about new beginnings!

Oh yes, I have started blogging on Dayre as well and in my first entry, I revealed a tiny secret. Find me @tippytapp (http://dayre.me/tippytapp) there! ;)

Andddd lastly, H and I are traveling to Phuket and Ho Chi Minh next month, any suggestions on yummy food and things to do would be greatly appreciated! THANK YOU!! :D

Thick slabs of salmon sashimi - YES

The scallop sashimi was heavenly!!!
I now declare these as my FAVOURITE sashimi!

A must order and mushrooms in my chawanmushi - that's a first!

H ordered the seasonal set which was red snapper I guess?
Soft and nicely done with sweet sauce.

And of course i had my favourite cha soba!

With tempura!

Oh yes, almost forgot to share about this delicious drink!
Iced Yuzu which was so refreshing!

And my #ootd that day.

In other news, CHRISTMAS IS COMING (I'm going on a trip yay! In fact, I'm going for TWO trips in December)!!
If you're clueless about what to get for your loved ones, may I direct you to When I Create?
They specialise in Zakka home decor items, craft materials and stationery.

I went crazy at their web store because I. LOVE. TOO. MANY. THINGS.
I'm constantly on the lookout for items that improve my home furnishing, which are both functional AND pretty at the same time. Which explains why I cannot wait for H and my home to be ready! Because for now, I can only see, cannot buy, until we get our keys. >:( What if they are sold out when next year arrives??? What if I can't find the same design anymore??? >:(

Anyhow, here's what I got from When I Create!

Hehehe I love cushions and what better way is there to dress up your living room/bedroom
than to add a couple of cushions with awesome covers?
I think it is genius to mix and match cushion covers of different hues and designs!

And this Flower Prints Cushion Cover is amazing because I can flip it around
if I want to create a different ambience for my house!
Grey for a muted look and pink for something more funky!

My rings found a home with the Ceramic Dog Holder!
I know it will guard my rings/accessories fiercely and loyally.

Looking reallyyyy adorable on my dresser now!

I also got a couple of Christmas figurines, some washi tapes
and a Russian doll handkerchief (all just launched)!!!
The people behind When I Create really know the way to my heart.
I cannot resist cute and pretty stuff!!

Need some Christmas gifts' ideas?

#OOTD: Compilation

Friday 15 November 2013

Hello guys!

Here's a compilation of what I wore in the previous months!

I realise I'm wearing a lot of black and white lately so I'm trying to incorporate more colours into my outfits. But don't you girls sway towards black and white??? Like if there are choices of black, white, yellow, blue, purple, or whatever other colours, BLACK is definitely my First choice. If there's no black, then I'll choose white. You know what I mean??? These two colours are classic and staples, and they never go out of style, ever.

Currently, I'm liking the minimalist style, clean lines and sharp cuttings so black and white apparel are essentials in my wardrobe.

I promise I won't go into the dark side entirely.

Okay, enjoy the pictures! And before you ask, none of the outfits are for sale at the moment (the first dress is already sold though). Those I didn't mention where I got them from were either brought back from China by H or I cannot remember where I got them from!
