Throwback

Friday, 11 October 2013

I must be addicted to cleaning, clearing and throwing. And getting married is an extremely good reason to be doing so since I will be vacating my bedroom for my sister after I move out next year. I have already filled up 3 big black trash bags of expired skincare/beauty products, ALL my diaries (the kind of details I wrote would put Anne Frank to shame), school notes, letters, nonsense, basically my entire life before today was thrown away. I'm clearing books (3 for $5 if you're keen let me know!) and clothes (flea in Nov - $8 and below, come!).

It's crazy how much stuff I've accumulated after 5 years of flying and it's all throwthrowthrow or givegivegive now. You all will stand to gain, wait for it! ;)

So yah, I decided to clear pictures in my iPhoto library as well (cleaning is an addiction) and I realised I haven't posted these set of photos I really liked! I think it was in the toilet in Dubai's hotel room and the lighting was perfect - no shadows though a little orangey.

Super good hump day!

And the light gave me flawless, poreless complexion!

Just to keep you guys updated -
one more week to my last working day with my current company
and I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT WAIT!!!!
Everyone I told was like, FINALLY???!??!!!

YES, FINALLY!

Ever since I tendered my letter of resignation,
I have been counting down the days
and I was even more affirmed that this is a right choice made.

"Respect yourself enough to walk away from anything
that no longer serves you, grows you, or makes you happy."

Came across this quote a couple of months back
and it has been on my mind since.
A mid-week quote to share with you and may you be rid of negativities!

Jetting off to Hokkaido + Tokyo for my birthday right after my last flight!
What a celebration! ;D

LONDON LONDON!

Tuesday, 30 April 2013

Last week, I was called up for a flight to London and I was soooo happy to see Daphnes' name on the crew list! *does a little jig* I texted her right away only to find out she was also called up!! WHAT ARE THE ODDS! *dances violently*

Itinerary for the 1.5 days was easy to decide as we both like (almost) the same kinda food and fashion and we visit the same places even if we are alone!

Dinner on the first evening was at Jamie's Italian! Jamie Oliver is opening a branch in Singapore by August and I can foresee another long queue for this. My virgin visit to the restaurant in London wasn't fantastic, save for the Tutti Frutti Lemon Meringue Pie which was excellent. Soooo I decided to give it another try that evening since Daphnes mentioned she visits it on every trip to London so it shouldn't be thattttt bad, right?

Thankfully we got there a little earlier before the dinner crowd!

It's weird how I ALWAYS crave for Coke when I'm overseas
but I never, ever order it whenever I'm in Singapore.

Posh Chips
I couldn't taste truffle :(
It was still yummy because I love potatoes.

Grilled Pork Chop
This was pretty decent but we had to send it back to the kitchen
to cook for a little while more because we like our meat 100% cooked.

Land and Sea Risotto
Not bad, very generous with the ingredients!
I might actually order this again!

And of course, we ended with the Tutti Frutti Lemon Meringue Pie ;)
It's so nice to have a dining companion so we can order more selection and share
AND still have space for dessert!

Oh yes, we also ordered the "Seasonal Greens" which was "broccoli" as told by the waitress.
And when it arrived, it was kai lan.
A few strings of it for 4pound.
Most expensive kai lan, ever.

Then we went shopping!

 -

The next day, we went to The Muffin Man for brunch!
It was almost 12noon when we arrived and since we were going to have an early dinner,
we decided to order a little to share.

Scrambled egg + ham on English muffin

Scones with strawberry jam + clotted cream

Both were so yummy.
Sigh, my tummy is blessed :)

A little shopping at Primark doesn't hurt ;)

And yes, this is how we usually try our clothes.
In the men's section.
Because it's almost impossible to find an unoccupied mirror at the ladies'.

Dinner was at Burger & Lobster!
Our first time there and we ordered the grilled and steamed lobster to share!
A full lobster for only 20pound, we were stuffed and belly happy at the end of the meal! :)

Went at odd hours (think 5pm) again to beat the dinner crowd!

YUMS!

Such a great trip and such yummy food sooooo happyyyyyy!

My best buy from Primark!
Love the floral prints, so huggable, and perfect for H's car haha.

Trolley Dolly

Wednesday, 16 January 2013

Judging from the title, I'm sure you guys know what I'll be talking about in this entry. For those of you who don't already know, I've been a trolley dolly for five years now.

According to urban dictionary:
"An often over-painted but nonetheless glamourous and sexy female cabin crew member on a commercial airline, so-called because they offer drinks and other refreshments from a trolley pushed down the centre aisle. Once, it was acceptable to also pinch or grope them as they passed with their trolleys but alas, no longer. Now they must use more complicated methods of picking up men that they fancy.
Otherwise known as "tarts with carts" or "flying mattresses ". Were known once for offering "coffee, tea or me"."

Hahahaha yeah "flying mattress" sound more appropriate a description cause I am definitely nowhere near sexy though I'm trying to be glamorous hahaha!

This is a job that many young girls yearn to have (speaking from experience- I wanted nothing more than to be recruited into the company five years ago AND my little sister is planning to join the industry soon after she graduates so I definitely know what some young girls think). And so, here's a little insight on what to expect!

Flying - pros and cons?

Okay, let's start with the pros!

Firstly, of course, travelling is FREE. Stays in five star hotels are also FREE. We get to go places, enjoy life, relax, learn about cultures, eat good food and yesssss, SHOPPING. OMG THE SHOPPINGGGGGG!! I've accumulated at least a ton of rubbish and 50kg of shopping still brand new with tags. Flying also allows me to get my favourite designer bags at discounted prices compared to Singapore's!

Number two - your time in Singapore is purely your time as there's no work to bring home nor are there deadlines to worry about. Just enjoy your day off and spend your time doing the things you love when you're home! I love my weekdays off as there are shorter queues in banks and post office.

We work with different people on every flight, we never meet the same passengers twice. So we actually meet LOTS of people everyday with differing opinions and they offer new insights to situations. I get to learn about the latest news and gossips from them and I might not even need to read the newspapers to know it. I learn something new everyday on the job.

I'm thankful for the friends I've made over the years. It's amazing how we are always able to continue the conversations we left hanging months or years ago the next time we meet.

And for the cons...

THANK GOODNESS I still weigh the same as I did five years ago butttttt my waist is disappearing :( It is definitely an inch or two thicker than it used to be and that sucks because I can't seem to find my waist back now.

Permanent dark eye circles that never go away due to my irregular sleeping hours. I am forever jet lagged and there was once I got back from the USA, I couldn't go to sleep no matter how and I was finally tired at 9am. My day was spent.

Beside the irregular hours, we lead a pretty unhealthy lifestyle as well. I don't usually take breakfast 'cause by the time I'm up, it is at least
12noon. With screwed up meal times, I gave up on taking medicines and vitamins.

Having to step out and get food for myself. HATE IT. Especially in winter.

Sometime from my third year on, I feel like my time can be better spent in Singapore rushing projects, meeting friends or even doing laundry. Anything is more productive than measuring the curtains in my hotel room. A lot of us feel unmotivated due to the comfort zone we are awarded with, they get complacent and lazy, worse of all, they feel *contented*. But not for me. I don't get the satisfaction I need from just doing my job that's why I studied for a degree, learnt driving, blog and cook during my free time, and set up my current baby - TIPPYJESS.

And lastly, there's the con of being away from home ALL THE TIME, missing anniversaries/birthdays/gatherings/weddings, etc. I used to be fine with missing all these till one day, I realised that all these events only happen ONCE and I can fly to London any other time... It's more important to be there for my friends and family than to spend it alone or with strangers overseas.

I hope you understand a little more about our job after reading through this lengthy list! I'm not a newbie to the industry nor am I in it as long as the seniors but I do know a little about it for survival purposes. You don't have to agree with me on every point as this entry only serves as MY point of view.

Alright, enough words! Below is a couple of outfits I wore lately, all from http://www.jipaban.com!

Brocade printed dress

Digital print skirt with leather waistband
Pointy snakeskin pumps with gold tips

Seoul with Sau!

Thursday, 25 October 2012

Annyeonghaseyo!
If you don't already know, Seoul is one of my favourite cities of all time!!!
Okay, I know every other city is my favourite city...
How about favourite Asian city?
I only have three!
Tokyo, Hong Kong and Seoul :D
I LOVE the food, language (or hearing them converse), girls, dramas, shopping.....is that enough reasons?
And of course, my favourite Sau is there!!
I'm really, really, really x1000000 hoping for good news
that somebody will give me their Seoul flight next month.
I need some spicy rice cake, bibimbap, bbq pork, strawberry shortcake, pancake and soy bean paste soup..........omggggggg.
I also need to buy more shampoo.
Please, please, PLEASE take my flight!

I was craving for bibimbap and this was pretty good!
I would love a bowl now.

Then we went for a haircut at Juno Hair!
Before I proceed, a little about the salon since I always get questions about it!

I always go to Juno Hair in Myeong Dong for haircuts whenever I'm in Seoul.
So far, I've did a perm and treatment with them, had a couple of haircuts
and my hair ALWAYS looks amazing when I step out of the salon!
On our holiday to Seoul last year, H and I went for a haircut there
and he's STILL singing praises of the cut.
Honestly, I cannot remember all my hairdressers' names but they're all skillful.
My most recent hairdresser was reallyyyyyyy handsome,
even Sau was checking him out hehehehe haha!

Okay, prices.
Perms are expensive there.
The one I did last year was approximately 200,000won but it was so pretty and natural looking!
Haircuts are cheap though!
It's only 20,000won regardless of length, I think.

I don't know the address of the salon but from what I know,
there are three Juno Hair salons in Myeong Dong alone.
I only visit the one next to the Adidas store,
just take the lift up to the 3rd level!

I loveeeeeee how they blow my hair!
It's like freaking messy yet it looks nice somehow.
I don't know why.

We went to my favourite BBQ restaurant at Myeong Dong for dinner after that!

Looking more and more Korean now

Magic potion.

As usual, we went to one of the many cafes dotting Myeong Dong for desserts.
This cafe specialises in tea and everything was infused with tea.
We stayed all the way till closing time and headed our separate ways
'cause we both had early morning flights to catch the next day. :/

Wish I had more time in Seoul.
