Live like a king

Saturday, 10 November 2012

H and I were in Bangkok on the last weekend of September and it was such a good break being away from Singapore. Initially, it was a tough decision choosing between relaxing in Bali or shopping & eating in Bangkok... THEN, toooooo many people were tempting me with all the buys they got from BKK so a decision was made, and no one else (i.e. H) could change it.

Got my Zara pants in Barcelona at 1/2 the price of what they're selling in Singapore!!

I have to admit, the traffic in BKK is getting from bad to worst.
More on that later but anyway, we took the new sky train from the airport to our hotel!
Pretty convenient.

And then it was off to Platinum Mall for food and shopping!

SUPER pretty cover I got there!
Anyway, I've got SIMILAR iPhone 4 casings like this coming up on my online boutique!
Equally pretty if not PRETTIER!
Wait for it okay? :)

Our favourite Mango Tango after shopping at Siam's night market!

Lunch at Chatuchak market
 Fried sesame chicken

 Spring rolls with pork

Tomyum soup was spicy and good!

 Basil pork salad I think.
Pretty good too!

I don't know what's the name of this food stall but if it helps, that's the stall's banner behind H.
It's located at the vintage corner of the market, near one of the entrances.

Love my bunny ears!!

If I own a car, it would probably look something like this.

It was a Saturday evening, and we decided to go to Chinatown at peak hour for dinner.
It was hard to get a cab and we were rejected so many times by taxi drivers
when we said we wanted to go to Chinatown >:(
For a good reason too because the traffic jam was SO HORRIBLE!
It took us double the time to get there with the jam, crawling would've been faster.

But anyhow, first stop, Nam Sing for cheap bird's nest and shark fin soup!

We also ordered a plate of hor fun which was pretty nice too.

I was already 80% full by then but we still made our way a couple of stalls down
for seafood at T&K Seafood.

The place was full but thankfully we weren't famished!
Waiting time was around 25 minutes, I think?

And that kinda summed up our short trip.

We went back the next day for more shopping at Platinum Mall
before almost missing our flight home hahaha.

Have you realised shopping in BKK isn't really as cheap as before anymore?
This lady quoted me 300baht for a pair of shorts
but quoted 220baht for a DRESS to a man who asked for the price in Thai
then translated it to English to his friend.

Yes, shopping is definitely still cheaper but gone were the good old days.
I don't think they're as friendly to Singaporeans too >:(
Luckily there's still good shopping back at home with ChaceyLove (http://chaceylove.livejournal.com)!
Here are the two pretty items they sent me!

Choose to dress up for work or dress down for shopping
with this Zara-inspired puffed sleeve blouse!

And this is what I'm wearing TODAY in Tokyo!
Love this skirt which brightens up my outfit instantly!
It looks even more fabulous when your top is tucked into the full skirt ;)

I hope it's as beautiful a day in Singapore for you as it is in Tokyo for me.
Going out now, enjoy your day and don't forget to shop at
ChaceyLove (http://chaceylove.livejournal.com)!

Let's TAP! and go

How's everyone doing?
I'm currently in LA and can't wait to fly back to Tokyo already!
Need some Ichiran ramen which I've been craving for two weeks prior to this trip!
It's honestly the BEST ramen in the world omgggg I miss!!
And I'm also on the hunt for something vintage! ;) hehehe excited!!

I've been pretty lucky lately and I'm really thankful to whoever who's been watching over me! :')
May more good things come my way, thank you :))))))))

Anyway, I changed my ENTIRE November roster
just so I can be around for my nephew's baby shower.
I kinda realise I don't want to miss any more of life's events
just to earn that few hundred bucks more...
because some, or rather ALL things only happen once and I want to be there to witness them.
Like my friends' weddings.
Four upcoming weddings and I really hope to attend every single one of them.
Please bless me with luck to get weekends off! *palms together*

Anyhooooo, remember this picture I shared on my instagram at Shaw Lido?
I tapped with an NFC enabled phone (Samsung Galaxy S3, Sony Xperia)
and won myself free movie tickets!
If you're just as lucky, you get to win IMAX tickets or MovieBites combo too!
Anyone can walk down the red carpet to tap and win!
Simple as that!

Now, what is NFC?
It refers to Near Fields Communication technology
which is a short-range wireless communication technology
that transmits data between a mobile device and a reader.
It is not new in our city (think ezlink card!) but we're definitely the first in the world
to have a mobile operator (Starhub), bank (DBS), credit card issuer (Mastercard),
and local transportation system (Ezlink)
cooperate in creating a unified service for customers!

And that's what DBS bank came up with!
A virtual credit card on your mobile!

DBS bank, the largest bank in Singapore and Southeast Asia,
introduced Singapore's first virtual card on a mobile!
They understand the mobile lifestyle today and there's no need for wallet clutter anymore!
An ingenious idea PERFECT for someone like me
who loves carrying impractically small purses that cannot fit my long wallet, or any wallet at all!

All you have to do is - TAP
Easy as 1, 2, 3!

Currently, there are over 30,000 merchant acceptance points in Singapore,
which include Watsons, Pasta Mania, Shaw Theatres, G2000 and Popeyes!
To make it even more convenient,
you can also pay for taxi fares using your mobile phone on Comfort & CityCab!
Just, TAP! and go!

What’s more, you can redeem mobile coupons on the go
by simply attaching the mobile coupon on your phone before you pay
and redeem the offer instantly and automatically!

Check out this video which tells you more about Singapore's FIRST virtual credit card!

More good stuff to intro you girls!
The lovely Esther from Hers Sincerely sent me two items which I absolutely love!

(I'm too shy to ask people to help me take outfit shots so we're back to mirror shots hahaha.)

First up, there's the pleather peplum jacket which kept me warm (and cool) in Tokyo!
Peplum's all the trend now and I think most girls look good in this cut!

The cutting of this lace overlay peplum top is a dream come true!
It gives the illusion of a small waist with the bottom flare and it's so easy to match!
From the top of my head, I can match it with pencil skirts, shorts, skinny jeans,
or even tuck it in with a full skirt :)
Get yours today here from Hers Sincerely

Meeting Jasmine always involves a lot of fooooooood
'cause she has an insatiable appetite!

This time round we visited La Maison Fatien at Duxton for some French.
Duxton has an amazing selection of restaurants and I hope to visit them all one day!

Pricing was pretty decent too in our opinion.
EXCEPT for the $10 mineral water!!!
We paid around $100 for 2 starters, 2 main courses AND a $10 1.5 litre bottle of still water.
C'mon, they served FOC tap water to other guests.

One of the best escargots I've tasted in Singapore!

Hmmm foie gras was a huge slab and tasty!

My pork chop was great, I loved it!
It was not tough nor dry and went perfectly with the French mustard.

 Jasmine's duck confit...as usual hahaha

Verdict:
La Maison Fatien offers quality French food at pretty decent prices.
In fact, it's probably one of the cheapest French restaurants we've been to.
So if you're looking to try French cuisine, this is probably a good place to start!

Okay, so after dinner, OF COURSE Jasmine wasn't full hahahaha!
We walked over to Ann Siang Hill in search of desserts
and we arrived at PS Cafe!

The sticky date pudding wasn't too bad but I still prefer Prive's!
Or I was probably too full to enjoy this.

We also ordered a side of their signature truffle fries which was such a HUGE portion.
Really addictive but then again, I love fries with a passion ;)

My outfit for that day!

I was tidying my email inbox's drafts
and came across a photoshoot's pictures from 5-6 years ago.

It was probably the makeup but omg look at my nose bridge!!!

Thought I looked SO MUCH BETTER when i was younger.
Why do we have to age T_T
